It’s been way too long since I posted anything here. Sorry. I’ll be more regular with my posts. So I got some grey art markers ,warm and cool shades. I’m trying to beef up my art skills, learning to use colors,ect. Like I said in my last post.
This is a little sketch of Cthulhu. I tried to make him look flabby and bloated because that’s how he’s described in the story. And not a muscular super villain. Just sayin’.
Here is a horrible lake monster and some medieval monk/ cultist/ priest person is getting ready to feed it…I don’t know a kid or something. Maybe a lamb if monsters eating kids makes you feel icky. You know what, no, it’s a child. SUCK IT UP. This was inspired by two things, The Last Revelation of Gla’aki by Ramsey Campbell and the wonderful(ly strange and wacky) writings of F.W.Holiday. Who’s F.W.Holiday, you ask? Well, Mr. Holiday wrote a couple of books about the Loch Ness monster and other anomalies. Nothing remarkable about that in itself, but what makes Holidays’ books stand out are his unique theories about what Nessie is, and where U.F.O.s, ghosts, and other anomalies come from. In his book The Great Orm of Loch Ness, Holiday theorizes that Nessie is a giant, worm-like invertebrate. What an awesome idea. Nessie as a plesiosaur is cool (if a bit silly), but Nessie as a giant invertebrate is just the best (and even sillier). In his other book , The Dragon and the Disc, Holiday deals with his idea that U.F.O.’s, ghosts, monsters, ect, all have the same vague, paranormal source. This idea is very similar to the writings of John Keel, who postulated about “Ultraterrestrials” who exist outside of our spectrum, but can make themselves known to us in the form of monsters, U.F.O.’s and so on. What is really cool, to me, is how similar these ideas are to the fictional writings of H.P. Lovecraft. Maybe Keel and Holiday were actually huge Lovecraft fans, but took him for a historian instead of a science fiction and horror author.
